Micheál Martin calls for ‘clarity’ in wake of Wexford General Hospital revelations

Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has said he is concerned over the revelation that one person may have died after a potential wrong cancer diagnosis at Wexford General Hospital.

It is understood that 12 cancers were missed by medics at the Hospital between 2013 and 2014.

Speaking in Wexford this morning, Micheál Martin said more transparency is required over what happened at the hospital.

“I think the programme has to be evaluated in the light of this report for lessons to be learned and also to insure that mistakes are not made in to the future,” said Martin.

“I do think we need more clarity, detail and transparency in relation to the entire situation that’s been ongoing between 2013 and 2014”.
