More than half of us not feeling effects of economic recovery - poll

More than half (56%) of Irish adults say they have not felt the benefits of the economic recovery.

A new poll carried out by Red C for Newstalk found only 44% believed they had benefited from the upturn.

It also shows almost four in five respondents believe that the recovery is on a two-tier basis, being felt more by some and not others.

However, six out of 10 (61%) thought economic growth would continue for the next five years at least.

From a Budget point of view, 36% feel the next Government should focus spending on public services.

Only one in three thought the Universal Social Charge should be abolished, while 10% said the focus should be on further tax cuts.

The telephone survey of 1,008 adults took place between Monday and Thursday last week.
