Wexford publishing firm to double its staff over five years

A Wexford-based publishing company is set to double its workforce over the next five years.

Prim-Ed Publishing has announced a €15m investment agreement, which was signed with an Australian company over the weekend.

Forty-six people are currently employed in the firm between its headquarters in New Ross and other offices in the UK and Spain.

It says it plans to increase its staffing levels to 100 as a result of the new deal.

Further jobs will also be created in the UK where Prim-Ed Publishing has doubled its sales over the past two years, with its curriculum-focused resources, workbooks, eBooks and teacher aids.

CEO, Seamus McGuinness, said: "This is a landmark move for what, is now, a truly international publishing company, which started out in the front room of my own home 22 years ago.

"The negotiations with RIC Publications have been ongoing since March 2015. Negotiating a deal across five continents involving different time zones, currencies and legal systems, was a complex task."
