Sinn Féin's Deputy President has said it is 'bonkers' that Fine Gael would consider holding the General Election on a Thursday to avoid a clash with a rugby match.

It is understood strategists within Enda Kenny's party are concerned about a potential loss of votes as fans travel to Ireland's Six Nations match against England - and want the country to go to the polls on Thursday February 25th instead.
