Independent TDs are proposing a motion of No Confidence in the Tánaiste today after an appointment they have labelled as "blatant cronyism".

The Independent Alliance said that Joan Burton did not follow the Government's own guidelines when she appointed former union boss David Begg as chair of the Pensions Authority.
