See some of the personalities and projects at this year's Young Scientist Exhibition

More than 1,000 students are competing to be the BT Young Scientist of the year from today.

Now in its 52nd year, the Young Scientist Exhibition is one of the longest running exhibitions of its kind in the world.

The competition features projects from the areas of science, technology and social science.

Brian O'Driscoll was amongst the familiar faces to visit the main exhibition as well as the numerous shows and conferences running alongside it.
