75% drop in number of unfinished developments

There has been a 75% drop in the number of unfinished developments between this year and 2010.

There were nearly 3,000 in 2010 - this dropped to 668 this year, and a further 324 have been resolved during 2015.

The Department of the Environment will engage with the relevant local authorities and stakeholders to explore options on the future viability of unoccupied unfinished developments, in cases where there is little potential of them being reactivated and becoming economically viable.

Minister of State for Housing Paudie Coffey told RTE that efforts would now concentrate on the 492 estates that have occupied houses.
