Childline service for homeless children launched

A new Childline service has been launched for homeless children.

The ISPCC said that the service will offer children living in emergency accommodation a listening ear and emotional support.

The service has the support of homeless charities Focus Ireland and Depaul.

CEO of the ISPCC Grainia Long said that homelessness is a traumatic experience for children.

"Some children will be worried this year that Santa won't locate them and won't be able to find them and that is a major issue for some children," she said.

"For other older children, they'll be concerned about noise, they'll be concerned about lack of privacy, the sheer lack of space and the stress that that causes."
