Council warns Clare residents of further floods due to release of water from Parteen Weir

Clare County Council has said that the ESB plans a "significant release" of waters from Parteen Weir.

The council said the volume of water planned for release is at a level which is likely to cause flooding of roads and could also potentially affect property in flood prone locations.

Clare County Council is distributing sandbags to property owners in the Springfield area of Clonlara.

It is also ensuring that people with reduced mobility have access to and from their homes in the event of the flooding.

The council said it is also responding to a request from property owners in the Doorus area of O'Callaghan's Mills and in Springfield, Clonlara, for emergency accommodation due to rising floodwaters.
