RTE veteran Teresa Mannion secured her placed in storm-reporting history last night, with a rain-lashed report from the front line of Storm Desmond.

Twitter went into meltdown as viewers reacted to Teresa's urgent report from the Promenade in Salthill, Galway as she stoically braved high winds and driving rain.

She repeated garda advice not to make unnecessary journeys on the treacherous roads (1.42 mins in the clip below)
