Inquest hears Brendan Megraw was shot in the head and dumped in make-shift grave by IRA

An inquest into the death of one of the so-called 'disappeared' Brendan Megraw, has heard he was shot in the forehead and dumped in a make-shift grave.

Last year, the 22-year-old's remains were located in Oristown Bog, bringing to an end a 36 year search by his family.

The hunt began on the 8th of April 1978 when Brendan was abducted by the IRA from his home in West Belfast.

Today Dublin's Coroner's Court heard from State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy that the badly decomposed body was found doubled over, wearing a balaclava.

Brendan's brother Sean spoke to LMFM News following today's inquest.

"It's hard for us but you can imagine, anyone can imagine a mother listening to how her son was murdered, it couldn't have been easy to take.

"She brought him into the world and to hear how he left the world would be very difficult."
