Howlin: Government 'anxious' to press ahead with IBRC investigation

Minister Brendan Howlin has suggested that the biggest cases faced by the Commission of Investigation into IBRC could be dealt with early in the inquiry, to speed up a report.

He said that controversial cases like the Siteserv sale could be dealt with first.

He stated that it would be an effort to avoid a drawn out wait for a conclusion to the investigation.

"The Government is anxious to get these matters resolved as quickly as possible," he said.

"I think there's been some speculation that we might, in response to the judge's request, look at a modular approach, to take, if you like, the most controversial issues, like Sitesave (sic) early, so that these matters can be fully addressed, rather than have a very long period of wait before we have any conclusion."
