Dubliner Ibrahim Halawa is entering his 30th day of hunger strike in Egypt

Ibrahim Halawa is entering his 30th day on hunger strike in an Egyptian jail.

The 19 year old has said he will refuse food until he is released and is pleading with the Irish Government to intervene.

The Dubliner is due back in court next month, at this stage his trial has been postponed nine times.

Sinn Féin MEP Lynn Boylan has been in touch with Ibrahim's family and says that the teenager feels he had no other choice but to go on hunger strike: "He is now entering his 30th day on hunger strike, which is deeply worrying.

"He is facing his 10th trial date on December 15 and also leaving his teens having been arrested at 17, he will be turning 20 on December 13, so two days before that trial date.

"He sees no end of the road to his circumstances and so he feels he has no other choice but to embark on the hunger strike."
