Man shot in the head in West Belfast

A man has been shot in the head in west Belfast.

The man is in his 40s.

It happened at Rosssnareen Avenue in the west of the city, shortly before 9 a.m..

He was taken from the scene by car, then transferred to an ambulance and rushed to hospital.

His condition is not known and the incident is ongoing, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

Shaws Road has been closed between Stewartstown Road and Rossnareen Road, the PSNI said.

The area is sealed off.
