189 Irish soldiers are settling back home after returning from a tour of duty in Lebanon.

The troops of the 49th Infantry Group were given an emotional welcome back to Dublin Airport by their families and friends.

Corporal Paul Halpin from Kildare said he is delighted to be home, so he can start married life.

"It's like surreal to be honest with you, but today is absolutely brilliant back to see the kids and the wife, newly married actually.

"When I went home on my leave I got married and unfortunately had to return to Lebanon but that's the joys of the job so now we can start married life."
