A 33-year-old man will appear in court in Sligo today charged with the murder of Natalie McGuinness.

OisĂn Conroy, of Mail Coach Road in Sligo, has spent the last week on suicide watch in Castlerea Prison.

A judge also ordered that he have psychiatric care in custody, after he arrived with self-inflicted injuries for his first appearance in the District Court.

Twenty-three-year-old Natalie McGuinness (pictured) died in hospital last week, a short time after being found wounded at a house in Sligo Town.

The first officers on the scene used a taser to subdue a man carrying a knife.
