Court appearance for 16-year-old charged with false imprisonment of Tánaiste

A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with falsely imprisoning the Tánaiste and one of her advisers during a water charge protest in Dublin.
Joan Burton and Karen O’Connell were allegedly trapped in their car for hours after attending a graduation ceremony in Jobstown last November.
Seven boys appeared before the Children’s Court this morning, the youngest of whom was just 13 when he allegedly threw missiles at Gardai.
Another 16-year-old admitted charges of violent disorder and damaging the windscreen of a Garda car and will be sentenced next month.
The others are facing similar charges and are due back before the court before the end of the year.
