Sex Crime Bill could make Ireland 'most difficult place in Europe' to carry out trafficking

The Immigrant Council of Ireland has said that if the Sex Crimes Bill is passed, Ireland could become the most difficult place in Europe for traffickers to carry out their trade.

On EU Anti-Human Trafficking Day the Council has said Ireland plans to wreck the business model for pimps, traffickers and thugs in the coming weeks.

Nusha Yonkova from the Council said that we should follow Northern Ireland which started targeting buyers this summer.

She also said the sudden influx of refugees will create more opportunities for the traffickers.

“In the course of migration people will be exposed to poverty,” Ms Yonkova said.

“They will be exposed to fake opportunities presented by sex traffickers and we have to have the decency not to allow this business to be profitable in Ireland”.
