Longboat Quay residents threaten legal action if they don't get 'meaningful response' in a week

Owners and residents at Longboat Quay say they are considering legal action to cover the cost of emergency works at the apartment complex.

In a statement after meeting the Environment Minister, Alan Kelly, they say the Dublin Docklands Development Authority and the receiver "are responsible" for the situation and have seven days to respond.

They say Minister Kelly was "helpful", despite not offering any State funds, and said he was going to "crack some heads" to get the problem solved.

The residents say the only formal offer they have received so far is €750,000 from the Dublin Docklands Development Authority, which they have described as "unacceptable".

Longboat Quay owner/occupier Michael Ingle says the DDDA and receiver need to step up to the mark immediately.

Mr Ingle said: "The DDDA and Receiver are responsible, and it is for them to come forward with a solution.

"We outlined our position in writing to the DDDA last Friday and have given them seven days to respond.

"If no meaningful response is forthcoming, we may have no option, other than to go to court."
