HSE director to run trolley crisis taskforce

The head of the HSE is to take over the running of the taskforce established to address the crisis in A&Es across the country.

The body was set up following out-cry over the growing numbers of patients on hospital trolleys at the end of last year.

The Director General of the HSE Tony O'Brien will take over as its chairman from the first of October until March of next year.

Mr O'Brien says he has made the decision as a result of the ongoing challenges experienced by the sector and the particular challenges that the winter months pose to the health services.
