Extension of 'smoky coal' ban expected on Monday
A ban on burning "smoky" coal looks set to be extended right across the country.
It has been reported that Environment Minister Alan Kelly will announce a nationwide ban on Monday.
Dubliners have not been allowed to burn smoky coal since 1990 - and that ban has since been extended to 26 other urban areas.
The nationwide plan is due to be revealed at a conference to mark the 25th anniversary of the regulation in Dublin.
An all-island ban is also under consideration.
