'Ireland's Biggest Coffee Morning 2015' is taking place across the country today.

The event raises money for the Irish Hospice Foundation and cash which is raised locally is spent on services in the area.

Over 16 million cups of coffee have been brewed since the idea started 23 years ago.

The public are being asked to gather friends at home or colleagues at the workplace, flick on the kettle and accept €2 donations in exchange for a cup of coffee.

Bewley's brand manager Mark Saunders says millions have been raised for hospice care.

"In that time, over 16 million cups of coffee have been had and over €30m has been raised for much-needed services in hospice care, because unfortunately hospice care is very much underfunded in Ireland," he said.
