Turn RTÉ headquarters into student accommodation, says Green Party

The Green Party is proposing for student accommodation to be built on the RTÉ site in Dublin.

The party wants the state broadcaster's facilities to be transferred into Dublin city centre and for student accommodation to be built on the RTÉ's Donnybrook site.

Green Party leader Eamon Ryan said that RTÉ could be moved into a Nama-owned site in the city.

"We think RTÉ itself needs to move back into the city centre where it was first, to get a new home, using some of the Nama sites that are there,

"And then we turn over the RTÉ Montrose site, which is a massive site, into a new student accommodation centre.

"It could take up to 5,000 students, you could put UCD, Trinity, DIT, DCU students together, and that would go a long way towards tackling the housing crisis students face in terms of trying to find rental property."
