Same-sex marriage due before Cabinet today
Legislation for same-sex marriage is due to be brought to Cabinet by the Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald this morning.
It has been reported that proposed laws on same-sex marriage could be debated in the Dáil within weeks.
It means Ireland could start to see the first official same-sex marriage ceremonies by the end of the year.
Marriage for same-sex couples was voted into the constitution last May.
However, ratification of the legislation was delayed due to legal challenges.
