Man in hospital with head injuries after fall on Carrauntoohil
A man in his 50s has been airlifted from Carrauntoohil in County Kerry and taken to Cork University Hospital.
Around 20 members of the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team stretchered him to an area where he was then airlifted by a Coast Guard helicopter to Cork Airport from where he was transported by ambulance to CUH.
It is understood the man fell while descending Ireland's highest mountain.
The mountain rescue volunteer group was notified around 3.15pm that the man had taken a fall near the Heavenly Gates area of Carrauntoohil.
A coast guard helicopter from Waterford airlifted the man who suffered head injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.
