ECB went beyond mandate issuing ultimatum to Ireland, says former IMF mission chief Chopra

The former head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to Ireland says the ECB acted beyond its mandate when it pushed Ireland into a bailout.

Ajai Chopra, ex-deputy director of the IMF, said Brussels and Frankfurt often put their own rules and concerns above Ireland’s plight during its punishing bailout.
