Musician Bressie and well known author Dr Harry Barry are among a number of people set to discuss suicide prevention at a conference in Dublin today.

Musician Bressie and well known author Dr Harry Barry are among a number of people set to discuss suicide prevention at a conference in Dublin today.

Organised by Console, the event will discuss international best practice and people's experiences with mental health difficulties.

"People coming to talk about suicide prevention, suicide prevention measures and best practice in the area of suicide prevention and how to reduce suicide," said CEO Paul Kelly.

"A lot of countries have very effective programmes to reduce the level of suicide and the emphasis today at the conference will be trying to addresses the issue of suicide in Ireland, the high levels of suicide, and what we can do to tackle it."
