Some 150 jobs are to be created with the expansion of a business analytics company in Dublin.

SAS said it is looking to hire multi-lingual business development and sales specialists, customer engagement specialists, data scientists and software engineers.

The roles will be based at the firm’s new sales and customer contact centre, on the University College Dublin campus in Clonskeagh.

The €40m investment will see customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa served initially from the UCD facility.

SAS executive vice president Carl Farrell said the global company wanted to expand in a city “as vibrant as Dublin which has such a thriving technology ecosystem”.

The €40m investment will see the SAS workforce in Ireland increase six-fold.

Martin Shanahan, chief executive of State investment agency IDA Ireland, described the expansion as “an important win for Ireland”.

“SAS’s decision to locate here will further highlight our country as a centre for big data and data analytics – a key emerging sector targeted by IDA Ireland,” he added.
