Events held to mark national emergency services day

Events are being held across Dublin today to mark national emergency services day.

More than 1,000 members of 18 state and voluntary organisations are marching on Dublin's O'Connell street this morning to highlight the work they do.

Staff from Ambulance and Fire Services and An Garda Síochána from 18 separate groups from around the country are taking part in the second annual parade from 10.30am.

Organiser Seamus O'Neill said: "We'll have members from each of the services, fire tenders, jeep, an RNLI boat - it'll be quite a spectacle going down O'Connell Street."
