Two due in court after ramming of garda patrol car

Two men arrested after a Garda was injured when a patrol car was rammed in Dublin early yesterday morning will appear in court later.

The incident happened when officers were monitoring a jeep in Hillcrest Park in Glasnevin at around 6am yesterday after two men attempted to gain entry into a house in Whitehall and a shop in Santry overnight.

Gardaí signalled the jeep to stop but it failed to do so and rammed the patrol car. An officer was injured, but not seriously.

The jeep fled the scene before it was intercepted a short time later in Ashbourne in Co Meath. Two men in their 20s were arrested, and they will appear before Cavan District Court later.
