'There's somebody out there that'll listen to you' – AUDIO: Heartfelt plea from Charleville mother

The mother of the three brothers who died in tragic circumstances in Charleville, Co Cork last September has made an emotional appeal to those fighting depression.

"There's somebody out there that'll listen to you,” said Helen O’Driscoll.

“Before your parents end up like us, brokenhearted, get that bit of help."

She was speaking after an inquest into the deaths of three O’Driscoll brothers in Charleville returned an open verdict today.

The jury said that the family and medical professionals could not have done more to help Jonathan.

Earlier, it heard that the twin boys died after being stabbed over 40 times each and their older brother died by suicide.

Jonathan O'Driscoll (aged 21) stabbed his nine-year old twin brothers Thomas and Patrick at their home in Deerpark in Charleville.

He took his own life a short time later in nearby Buttevant.

The deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis has concluded that the cause of death for both twins was multiple stab wounds and death by hanging for Jonathan.

The DPP has indicated that no prosecution will be made in relation to the case.

Helen said today's hearing has given the family some sense of closure.

“I suppose it’s a step more for us to get on with life,” she said.

“At least now we know what rightly happened, and we’ve no one really to blame only the good God up there who wanted him.

When asked how she has been since September, she responded: “Broken-hearted, love.

“Every day is like a million years. And I suppose it will be like that for the rest of our lives.”
