A woman is being airlifted from Carrantuohill mountain in County Kerry after a fall.

A woman is being airlifted from Carrantuohill mountain in County Kerry after a fall.

The 49-year-old suffered serious head wounds in the incident at around 2.45pm this afternoon.

In a statement Valentia Coastguard revealed that it tasked the Shannon Coastguard Helicopter to the scene.

The crew are currently working to airlift the woman to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee for treatment.

Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
