Government begins sending applications for water conservation grant

The Government has begun writing to people who have registered with Irish Water, inviting them to apply for the water conservation grant.

From tomorrow, everyone who registered their principal private residence with Irish Water by June 30 will start getting notices asking them to apply for the payment.

People will have to supply PPS numbers and bank details to the Department of Social Protection to get the grant.

Customers can apply online or over the phone before the closing date of October 8 this year.

The first payments are expected to start going into customers' bank accounts mid-September and completed by the end of October.
