Motorcyclist dies in Wicklow road accident

A motorcyclist died in a road accident Co Wicklow last night.

The accident happened on the N81 in townland of Poulaphuca in Blessington at around 9.15pm.

The 33-year-old man was fatally injured when his vehicle and a jeep were in collision.

He was pronounced dead at scene and his body was removed to Naas General Hospital where a post mortem will take place.

A second male motorcyclist, aged 49, was also involved in the accident and was removed to Naas General Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the jeep, a 61-year-old woman, was taken to Tallaght Hospital with minor injuries.

The scene has been preserved and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will carry out an investigation of the area.
