A man in his 30s has died following a collision in Co Louth overnight.

A 32-year-old man has died in an overnight road accident in Co. Louth.

The single-vehicle crash happened close to Brannigan's Cross on the Collon to Tinure Road, Collon, Co Louth at approximately 1am.

The sole occupant of the car suffered serious injuries when the vehicle he was driving left the road and struck a ditch.

He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where he was pronounced dead.

The scene has been preserved and Garda forensic collision investigators will carry out an investigation of the area. Diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was travelling the Collon-Tinure Road between 12.30am and 1am on 11th August 2015 are asked to contact them at Ardee on 041 6871130, The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
