A 50-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the false imprisonment of a father, his daughter, and her boyfriend, at a house in Sixmilebridge, Co Clare, last month.

A 50-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the false imprisonment of a father, his daughter, and her boyfriend, at a house in Sixmilebridge, Co Clare, last month.

Thomas Howard of Gortnaminch, Listowel, appeared before Ennis District Court where he also faced a charge of possession of a shotgun, with intent to carry out a robbery.

At the hearing, John Galvin, the father of All-Star footballer John Galvin Jnr, offered to put up €10,000 in bail money for the accused man.

Howard was remanded in custody with consent to bail, subject to the bail money being lodged with the court.
