RSA encourages sleepy motorists to stop for (free) coffee

Anyone driving home this Bank Holiday Monday should take a break if they start to get sleepy.

That's the warning from the Road Safety Authority, who has teamed up with Applegreen where motorists can stop for a free coffee this afternoon at selected stations.

Car crashes that result from fatigue are also three times more likely to be fatal, or result in serious injury, as there is no opportunity to take avoiding action.

Drivers are encouraged to drink a cup of coffee or other caffeinated beverage and take a short nap, which can temporarily relieve fatigue.
