Rapist fails in attempt to sue Prison Service and Minister
A convicted rapist has failed in his legal action against the Irish Prison Service and the Minister for Justice for the recording of phone calls he made to his solicitor during his trial.
In 2013, Michael Murray of Killiney Oaks, Dublin was jailed for 15 years for raping a woman after abducting her and her son.

In February 2010, Murray tricked a woman into following him into an apartment in Dublin city centre by pretending an elderly person was in need of help.
Once inside, he tied her up and sexually assaulted her repeatedly.
Her son, who was four years old at the time, was also with her and walked in at one stage to check if she was okay.
He appeared before the High Court today seeking damages for the recording of phone calls between him and his solicitor while he was being held at Cloverhill prison during his trial.
One of their conversations was about a defence witness that was due to give evidence.
Prisonersā calls are always recorded with the exception of those made to a solicitor or the Samaritans.
Some of his solicitor calls were recorded by mistake but the court accepted the content was not accessed or passed on to gardaĆ or anyone else.
Murray represented himself in court today and will have to pay costs.
