Labour parliamentary chair Jack Wall rules himself out of next election
The Chairman of the Labour Parliamentary Party has announced he will not seek re-election.
Kildare South TD, Jack Wall, is the fourth senior member of the party to reveal that he will not contest the next General Election.
Deputy Wall was first elected in 1993, and has been chair of the parliamentary party for the last eight years.
His announcement follows those of former leaders Eamon Gilmore, Ruairi Quinn and Pat Rabbitte in recent months.
"I believe that it's the right time to go - if there is ever a right time," Wall said, speaking to Kfm.
"I will have some quality of life with my family, [and] with my grandchildren. I think this is it - I've been there a long, long time. I've had the privilege of representing Kildare South - a huge privilege – and now I want to move on, and enjoy life."
