Govt to change boundaries in four areas
The Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly has announced a review of local government boundaries in four areas.
The borders of Athlone, Carlow, Drogheda and Waterford have been selected.
Mr Kelly says it is to bring administrative jurisdictions into line, due to an overspill of the population, for example Athlone falls into both Westmeath and Roscommon.
It aims to bring the towns or metropolitan districts under one single authority.
