A body recovered from the River Shannon has been identified as a woman missing from Limerick.

A body recovered from the River Shannon has been identified as a woman missing from Limerick.

The body of the woman, in her 40s, was discovered by a search unit attached to Bunratty Search and Rescue Service, at around 4pm.

The body, located at Meelick Creek, near Bunratty, Co Clare, on the Limerick side, was removed from the water and transported to the morgue at University Hospital Limerick.

The body has been identified as a woman in her 40s, who had been missing from Limerick for nearly three weeks.

A son of the woman was killed tragically in a road accident nearly ten years ago.

She was seen entering the water in Limerick three weeks ago.
