Murphy stands behind sources on O'Brien comments

Catherine Murphy is insisting her sources are "very reliable" in relation to her claims about businessman Denis O'Brien's banking arrangements with IBRC.

The Independent TD made the claims under privilege in the Dáil last week.

However, media outlets may be prevented from reporting her remarks because of a pre-existing High Court injunction.

The former IBRC chairman Alan Dukes has described the TD's claims as "downright plain wrong".

But Deputy Murphy says she never rushes into serious matters. "I take time over them, and I've done [so] in relation to this particular issue," she said.

"It is open to people not to accuse me of things, but to put what they believe is the correct information on the record, if my information is wrong - to put it out there."
