HSE Director says more Portlaoise Hospital staff could face disciplinary hearings
The Director General of the HSE has said that more staff at Portlaoise Hospital could face disciplinary hearings.
Tony O'Brien is before the Oireachtas Health Committee which is looking into HIQA's critical report into baby deaths at the Midlands Regional Hospital.
Four staff members are already facing fitness to practice inquiries.
Tony O'Brien says more staff may be made accountable for their actions within the next three months.
"There are now others who will be subject to the disciplinary investigation process, the terms of reference for which will be published this week," said Mr O'Brien.
"Probably by this day next week everyone will be aware of those terms of reference and the individuals who will be charged with leading them."
