A woman who was rescued after entering the River Shannon last night has died in hospital.
Two men who saw the woman fall into the water near Howley's Quay jumped in to save her.
All three were taken from the river by a three-man crew from Limerick Marine Search and Rescue Service.
The rescue crew had been combing the riverbank for another woman who entered the water last Sunday night. Her body has not yet been recovered.
The two brave men who tried to rescue the woman were treated at the scene by paramedics for early signs of hyperthermia. Both are said to have fully recovered.
The woman was rushed to University Hospital Limerick, where her condition deteriorated overnight.
She was pronounced dead in the early hours of this morning.
