A baby girl remains in a stable condition in hospital this morning after being discovered abandoned in Dublin yesterday.

A baby girl remains in a stable condition in hospital this morning after being discovered abandoned in Dublin yesterday.

Gardaí are now anxious to reunite the mother with her baby and are appealing for her to come forward.

At around 3.30pm yesterday afternoon a member of the public discovered a newborn baby girl, wrapped in a plastic bag, close to a business premises at Steelstown Road in Rathcoole.

Gardaí were alerted and they attended the scene of a medical incident where a newborn baby was discovered alone and alive.

The child was taken to Tallaght Hospital for treatment, where she remains in a stable condition.

Attention now turns to the mother and Superintendent Brendan Connolly of Clondalkin Garda station has said Gardaí are concerned for the welfare of the mother of this child and are appealing for her to seek immediate medical treatment.

Anyone with information regarding the mother and/or the baby are urged to contact Gardaí at Clondalkin.
