Kenny: ‘Government has nothing to hide’ on sale of Anglo assets

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said the "Government has nothing to hide" as pressure mounts to launch a Commission of Investigation on the sale of assets by the former Anglo Irish Bank.

It comes after the Comptroller and Auditor General said he did not have the legal powers to investigate as initially suggested by the Taoiseach.

Finance Minister Michael Noonan has said his department will review that over the coming days.

Speaking in Brussels on his way into a special leaders summit Kenny said the coalition is examining what is the best form of inquiry.

“The Government have nothing to hide here at all. What we want here is a facility that will allow for an independent analysis and examination of this matter,” said the Taoiseach.

“Clearly, there are a number of options being considered here.”
