Two arrested in Athlone drugs seizure

A man and a woman have been arrested after a drugs seizure in Athlone.

Gardaí searched two houses in Goldsmith View in the town this morning.

They recovered a quantity of what is believed to be cannabis herb and cannabis resin, along with drug paraphernalia and two firearms.

The drugs are worth an estimated €10,000, pending analysis.

The 24-year-old man and 18-year-old woman were detained and taken to Athlone Garda station.
