Gardaí seek public's help to identify cause of Kerry gorse fires
Gardaí in County Kerry are looking for the public's assistance in identifying who was responsible for gorse fires last week that caused significant damage to Killarney National Park.
The fire spread over several kilometres and destroyed hundreds of trees and some habitats.
Gardaí say the blaze posed a serious risk to life and property, and it resulted in hundreds of thousands of Euro worth of damage to the National Park.
They have called on anyone using wooded areas, to comply with the law and to undertake burning in a controlled manner.
Anyone with information about how the gorse fire may have started is asked to contact the Gardaí, the Fire Service or the Wildlife Rangers in Killarney National Park.
