Man dies in Mayo road accident

A man in his 30s has died after a road accident on the Main N5 in the townland of Knockanour, Castlebar, Co Mayo.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, was seriously injured when his car hit a fence shortly before 7.30pm last night.

He was removed to Mayo General Hospital but died later that evening.

The road at the scene is closed to facilitate a technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place.
