A two-year-old girl remains in a serious condition in hospital following a hit-and-run in Dublin yesterday evening.

A two-year-old girl remains in a serious condition in hospital following a hit-and-run in Dublin yesterday evening.

A 24-year-old man, who was arrested a short time later, is being questioned by Gardaí.

Gardaí at Cabra are investigating the collision which happened on the North Road at Phoenix Park in Dublin at around 6.25pm yesterday evening.

The toddler - a two-year-old girl - was struck by a car which failed to stop at the scene.

The child was removed to the Children's University Hospital at Temple Street, where she remains in a serious condition.

A 24-year-old man was arrested a short time later and he is currently being held at Cabra Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
